Art can give people a way to express thoughts and emotions that may be difficult to put into words.
Project COFFE’s art therapy and creative wellbeing activities provide safe, welcoming spaces where participants can slow down, reflect, explore their feelings and reconnect with themselves through creativity.
More than making art
Art therapy is not about being a professional artist or creating a perfect finished piece.
The focus is on the creative process and how it can support emotional expression, confidence and personal growth. Participants may use colour, texture, images and different materials to explore their experiences in a way that feels comfortable to them.
There is no right or wrong way to take part.
What participants may explore
Our art-based sessions may include:
- Drawing and painting
- Collage and mixed-media art
- Journalling and visual storytelling
- Clay, textiles and craft activities
- Identity and self-portrait projects
- Confidence and affirmation artwork
- Group murals and collaborative pieces
- Cultural and heritage-inspired creativity
Activities are designed to be inclusive and can be adapted for different ages, abilities and levels of experience.
Supporting emotional wellbeing
Creative activities can provide time away from everyday pressures and allow participants to focus on themselves.
Through guided art activities, people can explore emotions, recognise their strengths and reflect on their personal journey. Completing a piece of work can also create a sense of achievement and help rebuild confidence.
Our sessions aim to support:
- Emotional expression and reflection
- Confidence and self-worth
- Relaxation and mindfulness
- Reduced feelings of isolation
- Positive community connections
- Identity, culture and belonging
A safe space to create and connect
Art therapy can also bring people together.
Participants can create alongside others without feeling pressured to share more than they are comfortable with. Over time, these shared experiences can encourage conversation, friendship and a stronger sense of belonging.
Project COFFE wants every participant to feel respected, included and supported throughout the creative process.
Creativity as part of healing
Healing is not always a straight path, and it does not look the same for everyone.
Sometimes it begins with choosing a colour, making a mark on a blank page or creating an image that represents something you have been carrying.
Our art therapy and creative wellbeing programmes give people permission to pause, express themselves and begin moving forward at their own pace.
